Going Green?

What do you do with your extra chipboard after you've used whatever it's holding together? I decided to put the whole "recycle reduce reuse" campaign into action and made this cute photo collage with the frame from a SU On Board Lots of Letters set. I hadn't already used the "J" so I decided to leave it in (for our last name.) I spray painted the chipboard white then inked the edges a bit with SU Close to Cocoa and also did some stamping on it. I used the numbers from the Pink Paislee Vintage Moon stamp set, and also the frame and "thankful" stamp. The papers are all just scraps that were sitting in the scrap box...this is a GREAT way to use up those tiny pieces of PP that you just can't bring yourself to throw away. Finally I added the flower, some buttons and ribbons and called it done. It was a very quick project and I love the way it turned out!

On a side note...I appologize for being AWOL from the blog-o-sphere for so long. I've been busy creating, but not blogging about it. I plan to get back on track and keep up again though, so hopefully you'll still be checking in!!! Oh, and keeps your eyes peeled for a fun som'in some'in in the near future. :)

Melt My Heart!!!!

Awww....so I'm in here trying to get stuff uploaded for the AllyScraps contest and so on and so forth and my DD is supposed to be taking a nap. I hear her talking and go in to tell her to lay down and go to sleep. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Kessa you need to lay down and go to sleep.

Kessa: Gabbi not feeling good. Gabbi have my paci.

Me: Oh, I'm sorry Gabbi isn't feeling well, would you like us to pray for her and ask Jesus to help her feel better?

Kessa: No. I haveta pray for her by myself.

as I'm leaving the room this is what I hear...

"For God, Gabbi not feeling well...make her feel better..." awwww....Lord, let us all have faith like little children!!!!

My Space

Well, it seems like everyone's doing it and people have asked on a few different MBs I'm on, so I'll do it too! :) Here's where I scrap. It's working out pretty well for me. We haven't painted or really decorated too much because we rent and we had other things we wanted to do first...however I must say that the people that lived here before us went a little crazy with the sponging on the walls! Bleck. Anway....This is what you see when you walk into our office. Our huge wonderful corner computer desk. :) (just pretend like you can't see all those messy cords and such!)
Next to the computer desk is Tim's amp, all his guitar peddles and his guitars (yes, more than one, although only one made the pictures! lol) I use his amp as a lovely display shelf for cards I'm working on...he's not all that keen on this idea...in his words, "Nothing says ROCK ON like a hand-made card!" heheheh Then I've got a rolling storage container and a glass fronted cabinet with stuff in them.

Next to those is my lovely desk! Whoohoo. This is where I scrap away. You can sorta see my version of the clip it up hanging above my dest, all my ink pads and what not. Oh, I store most of my alphas in the shoe box on the top of the cabinet next to my desk. (Thank goodness DH has huge feet so even my big alphas fit! hehehe)

Then I use an over the door shoe sorter to hold my punches, random stamps, decrotive scissors (although they never get used...) and stuff like that. My rolling tote that I take to crops and stuff lives in front of it with my crop-a-dile and stuff like that in it.
And finally my bookshelf! This is where all my stamp sets live. My MM paints and stickles are all lined up nice and neat, flowers and bling live in the drawers and then books/mags/and stuff like that on the lower shelf. And the top shelf is share with books. lol.

That's it kids! That's my space. Thanks for stopping by!

Amen and Amen

Gretchen Naugle, wife of Desiring God's Lukas Naugle, was on hand and writes,

Pastor John called all women to examine the depths of their womanhood and their faith. He stated, "If you base your womanhood on competency you diminish the glory of Christ."

When we as women embrace our God-given role, we proclaim the glory of Christ at Calvary. We were called to proclaim the glories of Christ in all that we do, even the countless diaper moments that come with being a mom and in the hard, sacrificing moments of being single.

We need strong theology to stand strong through the challenges of this life, because as Pastor John said, "Wimpy theology makes for wimpy women."

Scrappy Stuff + Littles

Just a LO and altered canvas I did recently. I've got some great pics of Zeke lately that I'm having a ton of fun scrapping! :)

I made this for our front door. The picture is attached with repositionable tape so I can change it out whenever I get a hankerin' to. (hehehe....I don't know why, but I've had a hankerin' to use the word hankerin lately!)
LO I did using the Scrapdango October kit from Scrap within Reach. I LOVE this line!!! yummy!!! And are these not the cutest pictures of Zekiel playing at the park?!?! Love them!
And have I mentioned lately to have these AMAZING kids in my life?!?!
They crack me up and teach me all day everyday! :)

Scrap-Tastic

I have some news I'm SSOOOO excited to share with you! About this time last year I tried out for a DT for the first time ever (actually the LOs that I shared a few weeks ago that were old were the ones I submitted.) The DT call was for a site called Scrap-Tastic and it was my very first experience with the wonderful world of on-line scrapbooking sites and forums. As I'm sure you've guessed if you remember the LOs I didn't make it! lol. But this year....I did!!!! I'm so honored to have been choosen as one of the DT Girlies for Scrap-Tastic for this year. (Nov. 08-Nov. 09) Becky, the owner is amazing! She's a Prima endorsed teacher, a DT member for Fiber Scraps, and does a GREAT job with her own site. Be forewarned...she carries almost all the stuff I love in her store...so be prepared for some enabling!!! Come on over to the message board and play with us! We have a ton of fun!!! :)

So much to say

Wow, its only been 2 days since I've blogged...(sorry about that!) but I feel like I've got a ton to say. DS is up and needs to nurse though, so I'll just post little bits as I have time! lol. First...a shameless plug!

Well...I thought it was a shameless plug, but I guess I don't need it! lol. I'm in the So You Think You Can Scrap contest at YMBD and I was going to tell you to go vote for your favorite lo...but apparently round 1 is over and I made it on to round 2! lol. I know you've seen this LO before, but this is the one I entered for round 1.

So So

Just popping in to share some stuff I've been working on. I participating in the America's Next Top Scrapbooker contest over at AllyScraps and so far it has been a BLAST!!! The first challenge was to Bling It On! So here's what I did with it...and I feel its only so so...so I'm working on another one! ;) This is a close up of some of the different blings I used. The swirls are all Autumn Leaves stamps that I used acrylic paint on...so addicted to doing that lately! And then on a rather random note, here's a card that I did as a special order for my etsy store, BabyFishDesigns. A lady wanted an x-mas card for her daughter and son-in-law who are expecting their first baby.

Scrappy Stuff!!!

I'm the Guest Designer over at Scrapdango this month and I just have to say that I LOVED the papers in the Spice kit that I got to play with. They're from the Elliot collection by Scrap Within Reach. Yum!!!

Ok, first off I took a Maya Road letter tin and altered it into a nightlight for my DS. I also used this for the Noel Mignon Recycle Reduce Reuse contest. I wasn't really sure that the tin would count as something I would normally throw away (even though it WAS packaging..) but either way it doesn't matter because I was out of dimensionals and this project needed a ton of them...so I used the foam from scraps that I had trimmed from some SU stamps. They're already self adhesive, just peel off the rubber and add a little glue to one side if needed and viola! Dimensionals from things I would normally throw away! :D

I printed a very from Psalms that says, "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." on a transparency. It's kind of bowed out from the lid, then the pictures are double popped up and the LIVE bingo card is just popped a little and everything else is adhered directly to the pp on the back.

An angled pic to get some more detail without the glare.
and a picture of it lighted!! :D I LOVE how it looks lighted!!!

moving on...LO of Zeke doing what he always does outside...eating grass! There's hidden journaling behind the picture (on the "read this" tab)

This was a very simple LO...something I'm not usually very good at, but I really like how the messy stitching around the "lucky" turned out.

and a DPS. the chair on the vertical pic is popped up a little bit.

Ok, that's it for now. Have a great day!
