I'm a Country Casual

photo from junkgarden.

I took this fun little quiz and the results were pretty much right on.

Here's what they say:

Your home expresses your open, easygoing approach to life. You love unique finds, and can turn a few mismatched garden chairs or floral teacups into a charming arrangement. You appreciate a pretty mix of relaxed pieces, like painted wood or weathered furniture, lovely florals and other patterns, lots of throws and pillows, mementos and bunches of fresh flowers that give your home a unique sense of breeziness and charm.

You value creativity. You are stylish and fun loving, and can be an inspiration to others. You have a natural sense of drama, and you know you have to be willing to take risks—whether with colors, finishes, furniture choices, or ideas—for your home to stand out. Your home can be happy and lively and the place all of your friends want to be.

Ready For Fall

Sure, I mean, I love the leaves changing colors, I love the cooler weather, I love the hay rides and bonfires...but let's be honest...right now I'm just ready to start dressing my kids in their way too cute fall clothes (and honestly, buying them more!!!) Now don't get me wrong, they've got cute summer clothes too...but there's just something about fall clothes that gets me. I just LOVE them!!!!

Check out this totally adorable outfit that I'm pretty sure Grace needs from The Children's Place:

(don't you just LOVE that hat?!?!)

and how about these boots for Kessa (although I can't decide which color I like best...)

(Can't you just see them with tights and a little skirt?!?! *eee!*)

This outfit from Gymboree is totally adorable too...*but I think I'd find some hightops or boots to go with it not these pink shoes they have with it.

Totally simple but cute from Gap.

Yup, boy clothes are way too fun too! I've got a thing for Henleys.
I LOVE these jeans!!!! Sadly they (along with just about all the clothes I loved for Zeke) are from Gap and I pretty much don't shop there because it's so expensive!

Loving this shirt cause it's still "dressy" and nice for church but he'll look like a little stud too and it's not too preppy for me.
And this may be my favorite find of the day. I'm not sure why but I LOVE it!!! heheh! My dad was in the Navy for a while and the ship tattoo reminds me of one he has.
(on a side note this was a just for fun post. I probably will not be buying my children any of these outfits much less all of them. We try to be much more rational with the $ God has blessed us with...but it's fun to look anyway! :D)

How To Eat A Burger...

(according to Zeke)

Step One: Remove top bun.

Step Two: Remove burgers (yes there are two because we hit up the $ menu.)

Step Three: Replace said burgers with french fries.

Step Four: Replace top bun.

Step Five: Disassemble entire thing and eat french fries (and maybe a few bites of bread.)

I've not been Idle...

I know I've been MIA again for a while but I haven't been idle in the scrappy world...I just can't share most of what I've been doing yet because it's for the August Scrap-Tastic kit called Summer Heat.

I've been having SOOO much fun with this kit (and the member perks this month are AWESOME too!!!) Anyway, I've been having too much fun to keep it all to myself so I thought I'd drop by and tease you with some sneaks!

I cannot WAIT to share the LO below with you all. I just LOVE the way it turned out!!!!!!!

It's Over!!!!!!!

Wow. So the Last Serendipity Scrapper Standing is finally over. (although I'm pretty sure that none of us in the top 5 were actually STANDING when it was all over! lol...we all kinda crawled or dragged ourselves across the finish line in the wee small hours of the morning! lol)

It was a TON of fun and I've totally fallen in love with Serendipity Scrapbooks. They've got a ton of fun stuff going on and a great board full of amazing DT girls and members. I completed an AMAZING 82 LOs since the contest began (a month ago.) and the most amazing part is MOST (not all, but most) of them I really love!!!

Our last challenge was to create our own kit and then make as many LOs using JUST our kit as possible (there were very specific requirements for the kit of course!)

Here's my kit:

And a couple LOs I did using it. (I did 11 total)

Remembering Paw

I just thought I'd pop in and share a LO that's been brewing in my head for a long time. It finally all came together today and fit a challenge over at Serendipity Scrapbooks perfectly.

This picture is of my DD Kessa playing in the snow last January. The first time I saw it I imidietly knew I wanted to do a LO like this...and bit of a tribute to my paternal grandfather (Paw.) However I guess I've just been waiting for the perfect papers and embellies and everything else and today it all fell together. All the papers are from the April Color Me Daisy kit (and there are still a few left if you love what you see!)

As always, you can click on the image to view it larger and read the journaling. :)

The rosebud flowers are super easy to make. I loved this tutorial by Deanne.

07.08.09

Check out this fun game! (sorry I posted it too late for anyone else to play along. :( )

Here's my littles 07.08.09 @ 10:11 am.

We were in the car and had just arrived at DH's grandmother's house for a visit. The boy is just too precious...and the girl...well...she was being her normal oinery self and trying to hide from the camera!

My Little Man

Hey everyone! I'm just sitting here enjoying some watermelon before I head to bed (yes it IS only 9:30...so what?! heheh!)

The current challenge in the Last Serendipity Scrapper Standing contest is a Monochromatic one. We can only use one color but we can add white and/or black to the LOs.

As I was digging through stuff trying to find papers that didn't have more than one color in them I stumbled upon my pack of scraps from Cosmo Cricket's Get Happy line. I swear...this might be one of my favorite lines EVER EVER EVER!!!! There really are only tiny scraps left in the bag but I just can't bring myself to throw them away...so this challenge gave me a good opportunity to use some of them!
*sigh* It's full of bright, grungy, distressed colors and patterns that just make my heart skip a beat!

Anyway...here are two of the LOs I did using up scraps from it. (these pictures are older ones of my little man...but he was a cutie even then! hehehe!)
I just love the look on his face in this one! You can just tell he's wondering what he can get into. The strips behind the No. 1 are actually packaging from a set of Jenni Bowlin pearl flowers! :) Gotta love using everything. This one I dry brushed the black and then also added a VERY thin line of black paint around the edge of the whole LO. Zeke was 9 months old in this one. I used corrugated cardboard to stamp my "notepaper."

Ok, well I'm done with my watermelon and I guess I'll be off to bed. Night alL!

Happy 4th!!!

I hope you all had a great 4th of July and did a lot of relaxing!!!

We had a very lazy day around here...it was very nice. It ended up raining most of the day so we just stayed home and hung out together (when Tim or I wasn't sleeping! lol he slept most of the morning and I napped a good part of the afternoon...it was wonderful!)

Anyway I just thought I'd pop in and share a few more LOs I've done lately.

I used Scrap-Tastic's July kit, Hello Sunshine for this LO of my DD in her way too cute Baby Legs.
This one I used mainly using left overs from S-T's Velvet Room kit. I spritzed the bg with pink bubblegum Glimmer Mist first and then layered the lace cs over it. This kit was chalk full of amazing new Prima and other beautiful goodies and there are still a few available if you're interested!

Umm....yea...

or better titled...."Confusing Conversations with a Two Year Old."

Soo...we've been having a hard time keeping the kids in their bunk beds for the last week or so. They started out great and have digressed! About a week ago after they had both been punished and put back in their own beds Kessa asked if I would stay with her for a few minutes. I agreed and we began talking about why she wasn't staying in bed and that she couldn't be good on her own but that Jesus could help her be good. I always try to level the playing field when I'm talking with my children about their sin by reminding them that mommy sins all the time too but that Jesus helps her be good also. This particular night though the comment didn't fall on deaf ears. Kessa pondered this for a moment...that mommy sins too...then she asked, "Do you get spanks too?"
ummm....how would you respond to that one? Not sure if I had the best response in the world but taking a deep breathe I told her, "Well Kessa, mommy SHOULD get spanks for her sins but Jesus took all my spanks for me so I don't get any anymore. However I do still have to suffer the consequences for my sin...and that's kind of like spanks."

Hehe! So...that's one place where I'm still baffled when I think about it. Anyway, we'll just pray God's grace will cover over any big mistakes I made in that conversation! lol
