Summertime Fun

Yup, that's the name of the new Color Me Daisy kit and it is a ton of fun!!! I've had a blast playing with it...even though bright and bold isn't usually me. Here's what I've created so far. (well...three outta four isn't bad...but bloggers doing the weird turn the photo sideways thing with the last one again!)

(I also used my new SU label punch on this one! LOVE it!!!)
This picture of my dear boy sleeping just makes my heart melt!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fancy Pants papers on this page too. I added some more distressing to them with Brick red distress in and Close to Cocoa ink.
and finally...it's a little hard to tell but this one has a lot of pops of orange distress stickles for some added bling and dimension. Good times!

Thoughts to Prepare for Worship

I've been reading The Legacy of Sovereign Joy for a while now, I'm almost done with it. However I was very struck by one passage in particular as I was reading a few days ago.
The section I was reading is about John Calvin.

"when he (Calvin) was thirty years old, he described an imaginary scene of himself at the end of his life, giving an account to God, and said, 'The thing, O God, at which I chiefly aimed, and for which I most diligently labored, was, that the glory of they goodness and justice...might shine forth conspicuous, that the virtue and blessings of thy Christ...might be fully displayed."

I know he was refering mainly to the way he pastored, but for me, it very much made me think about the way I parent. I feel that so often I fall into the trap of making Christianity look to my children like it's about them and their need of salvation and NOT on the glory of God. That's not what I want. I want their sin to point them to Christ, but not as a bandaid or "quick fix." I want them to see in the way I live that Christianity is all about Christ's glory because THAT is what will make them (and all of us for that matter!) supremely happy. That is what makes the true Christian life worth living and not just a set of rules to follow. I want to be able to join Calvin and say that my CHEIF AIM in life, and the thing that I most DILIGENTLY labored for, was that His glory might be fully displayed in my life.

I'm Alive!!!!

Wow...it's been like 2 weeks. Time sure got away from me! So sorry about that (if anyone out there is still reading that is!) Anyway, I have no good excuse for my lack of blogging...just not enough hours in the day syndrome.

Anyway, as a peace offering how about a couple LOs of my sweet, unborn, baby girl?

I did both of these LOs for a challenge to use song lyrics for your journaling. This first one using the song "Tuesday's Child" by Stephen Curtis Chapman. The lyrics were just so fitting and went so well with why we named her Grace.

This one is from a Nicole Nordeman and the song is called "I wanna leave a Legacy" it spoke to me a lot about how I spend my time and what my children see when they look at me. (I know the belly shots aren't great, but hey, I was taking them myself with the timer! lol)

92 Days of Summer

I'm doing a contest over at Your Memories By Design called 92 Days of Summer...the premise? To take a picture every day and then do a LO with a picture from each day at the end of each week. Kinda like the 365 day photo challenge...but on a smaller scale. So far I'm really enjoying doing it!

Here's my Lo from my first week. (I used more than one picture from some days.) Everything but the gray cardstock is from the Color Me Daisy June kit.

*(not sure why the image is so blurry, sorry about that!)

Some LOs and a Toot

Hey everyone!!! I got an exciting e-mail last night!!!!! Remember that mini album I did for the Lily Bee contest? Well I won 3rd place!!!! And I think that maybe even better than that is the fact that I won 3rd...and my scrappy girl-crush Virgina won 1st!!!! To be considered even that close to as good as her...WOW!!!!!! You can see all the winning entries here.

And here are some of the LOs I've done with this month's kit from Color Me Daisy.

I used yellow glimmer mist for the edges of Venturing Out and the punch on the black paper is EK Success Parisian.

Lots of masking here. I used grungeboard flowers from the kit to do the flowers at the bottom...and YUM!!!! I'm LOVING all the Jenni Bowlin stuff in this month's kit!!!

and apparently I'm addicted to masking and paint this month....

Preparing For Grace

I was pondering as I typed that title what a blessing it is that we don't need to, and in fact CAN'T, prepare for God's grace. It's something He freely gives us...we don't have to clean up our act first or get things ready for Him to shower His grace down on us...isn't that such a sweet blessing and relief?!?! I would perpetually be preparing but never receiving if we had to get ready for His grace.

Anyway, this wasn't supposed to be a long theological conjecture...it's actually my To-Do Before Baby List...thus...Preparing for Grace. lol

Probably not interesting to most of you but it will help me out tremendously...and if you've got any ideas of things I forgot or better ways to do things please let me know!

Finish purging/deep cleaning:
our bedroom

Put door on office
Get bunk beds set up for K and Z
Get K and Z sleeping in said bunk beds
Move crib to office
Make office more baby friendly
Move chest of draws out of the kids closet and put in more shelves for hanging stuff
Make and freeze snacks
Make and freeze meals for the kids for while I'm in the hospital
Solidify plans for the littles while we're in the hospital
Get 3rd car seat in car

Ok, I'm sure there's more that I'll be adding later but for now we'll leave it...I'm going to eat lunch. Later ladies!
