Trying out Copics

Our mid-month reveal is up at AWDML!  The featured manufacture is Copics...which I was am not at ALL comfortable with.  lol.  I kept trying to figure out ways I'd actually use them, because let's be honest, I'm not the type to sit down and color in lots of images with them...

So for this card I used them to color match my ribbon and stick pins to the patterned paper I was using (both the ribbon and the pins were originally white.)  I'm happy with the results!

And if you follow me on Tumblr or facebook you know that I've been doing some serious drooling over quilts lately and have plans (and fabric!) to start on some too.  Well...apparently all the quilt blog visiting is effecting my brain..and my scrapping!  lol.  This was a great way to use up some scraps though!

Here again I used the Copics to color match the lace and doily to the rest of the LO and I also used them to color the pearls green.

Full of Fun June!

I have a few fun things to share with you today!  I've been waiting for this day (June 1st!) for a while so I could share my news.

First off...I'm am SOO excited and honored to be Guest Designing for Layers of Color this month.  Laura, the owner contacted a while back and asked if I would be interested in designing for them this month...and I have to tell you...I did a lot of searching around their site and I fell in love.  Not just with the products (stamps, digital images...and being released this month...art stencils!) but with the mission behind the business.  Laura and the rest of the people working for and with Layers of Color desire to honor and glorify Christ in all they do, from their artwork to their business dealings.  THAT is what really got me interested.

Here's a peek of the first LO I've done with some of the great stamps I got,

You can see the rest of it on the this Layers of Color blog post.

Second,  if you check out the June CardMaps at

PageMaps you'll see a card by me!  (also featuring a Layers of Color stamp!)

My "Origins"

Heheheh..I'm a big dork.  My papercrafting "origins" are with cardmaking...but I'm a self-proclaimed scrapper...and haven't been very good at making cards for a few years.  However, latetly I've been having fun playing around with more cards when I want to make something but don't have time to do a LO.

Today, during naptime was one of those days.  I NEEDED to do something crafty, so I pulled out my Basic Grey Origins paper and some new punches I got yesterday and started playing.

My dad's birthday is Monday, so I made him a little card...I used Distress EP for the cake and the punches are by MS.

and another simple card playing with my new MS punches (plus another one here...do you see it?)
I sprayed Coffee Shop glimmer mist on the card first then added the BG stickers, the label I punched with my Stampin' Up Modern Label punch and then I sprayed the Belle Blvd. letters with Helmer Spray adhesive and added glitter.  I also added glitter to my butterflies.

Creative Outlet

I'm sorry the last post sounded like a *bit* of a downer.  ok, maybe it was a BIG downer. ahem.  Anyway, I've loved working both places but I'm also looking forward to see what the future holds...and I'm throwing myself into creating....for the fun of it!  lol...and I AM having fun...and I'm remembering that before I was a scrapbooker I was a cardmaker.  So I thought I'd share a couple cards I've done.

I used the Basic Grey Origins line for this one, along with some of my "go to" supplies, the Modern Label punch and the "grateful" stamp are both Stampin' Up.  Then just to add a little something I outlined the flower with some glitter and used a contrasting green thread to stitch a boarder around the yellow paper.  The rhinestones are Kaiser.
and I had such fun with this card.  The photos don't do it justice.

I'm totally addicted to my Stampin' Up triple heart punch.  I used pink embossing powder on one of the hearts, and Walnut Distress Powder on the "cherish" and the sentiment on the heart as well.  The papers are from the Pink Paislee Cupid line and for a sweet and slightly whimsical touch I made this a tri-fold card and used the Stampin' Up Eyelet boarder punch on the edge.

a slightly better picture of the glittered heart...I'll have to take some good ones tomorrow when it's not dark!  :)

Chocolate Cherry Cordial

The February kit, Chocolate Cherry Cordial, is up at Scrap-Tastic!  This kit was so much fun.  It's chalk full of one of my favorite things....KRAFT!  Plus, there's Jenni Bowlin.  Yup, I had fun!

Here's one of the LOs and a few cards I've made so far with this kit.

This is a lot more simple than I usually go...but I'm still ok with it.  Not one that I'm going to go enter in any contest or anything, but I do so LOVE this photo of Kessa.

I used an EK Success Bracket boarder punch for the boarders on this one.

A Pagemaps card map was my starting point for this one...and I really like the results!  I'm thinking from now on if I need to make a card this is going to be where I start.  The sentiment is from the Pink Paislee Pop Fashion stamp set.

Vanilla Frosting

Yup, not gonna lie. I'm a vanilla girl. Always have been, always will be. So obviously this kit was totally for me! This is the first time I've worked with any Webster's Pages products and let me tell you what...WOW! Umm...yea, love them. Like, drooling love them. LURVE. (as a certain home decor blogger likes to say.)

So, enough about how much I LOVED the papers...wanna see the rest of the kit?
Yup, it's pretty yummy!!! I've got one project I'm still working on that my whole family is excited about, but for now, how about some cards? (I am SOOO not a card maker, so just smile and nod and pretend like you love them!)

(In case you couldn't tell, I'm rather addicted to my new Stampin Up "Modern Label" punch these days..)

and a little 2 pager I did for a circle journal about my "style."

(isn't that lamp post just amazing?!?!)

Enough for today..but I do have more to share!

Back to my Roots

Well....my papercrafting roots anyway. I've been making cards like crazy and still am only about half-way done with all that I need to make. Thank you cards...for all our family members...from my kids (and DH and I too! lol) for Christmas and Zeke's birthday. I usually just go buy cards when I have a lot to do but I didn't make it to the store and I just have so many scraps leftover from such yummy kits I figured I'd just plunge in and make them this time. So...here's what I've been working on!
These first two are from the January Project kit over at Scrap-tastic and the last one is from the January Main Kit (Frosted Elegence.)
I've got some more cards hiding out but they seem to be wanting to upload sideways...hate it when blogger does that. Anyone else ever have problems with that?

Scrap-Tastic Stuff

I got the January Project kit over at Scrap-Tastic this month too...and not just the main kit (which is totally yummy and I got to design!) Anyway....here's some stuff I did with the Cupcake Cutie Card Kit.

(This one and the one below both use some of the new Pink Paislee Sweetie Pie Postcards...aren't they so cute?!?!)

(there is stamping on the inside of the card that shows through the window a bit, but it didn't photograph well.)
I just LOVE this Painted Lady pp by Kaiser. I just fussy cut around the wings a bit and then bent them up for some dimension, inked the edges and added my sentiment and was done!

Happy Monday!

Wow....Can I just say that its only 8:20am and I'm already worn out just listening to my daughter talk. She NEVER stops talking. Which is very nice most of the time and I LOVE that she talks so well and is so easy to understand....but sometimes...just sometimes....it's exhausting to listen to her and answer every question...and respond to every statement...that's repeated...like 20 times!!!!! lol.

Just popping in to share some more things I made with the Scrap-Tastic November kit. I finished up ALL the journals yesterday so now I'm on to personal scrappy stuff for the week! :) Enjoy your beautiful Monday!!!!
You can click on this one and view it larger to read the journaling (I promise if you do the title will make sense! lol)
And some cards.

Some Pretties

Just popping in to share a LO I finally finished. I LOVE these pictures of Kessa enjoying...a box. I used some lace binding I got a vintage store last week all over this page. The color was perfect! Another interesting little tidbit...the background paper is BG...Figgy Pudding to be exact! See, it's not just for x-mas!!
And a card I made with some of the scraps from the LO. The script is a Fancy Pants rub-on and the stamps are Autumn Leaves Swirls V. 2...something I'm VERY addicted to right now.

Support & Ornament of Domestic Life

Here are a couple card I made using the CuteWorld boy kit from Addicted Scrappers. (The J is from last months kit Sunshine and Popsicles.)

This card I think I'll probably give to my nephew for his first birthday. I wanted the airplane rub-on to show up really well so I put it on a transparency and then cute it out and popped it up. I'm really happy with how this LO turned out. I hadn't scrapped in what seemed like forever and I was having major withdraws!!! I hand cut the shaped paper and then did some messy machine stitching around it. The photos were altered using PSE (I lowered the overall saturation and then increased the blue saturation to put the focus on the bear.)

credits: bg paper - MME Bohemia, shaped paper- Basic Grey Figgy Pudding, doodle paper- Love Elsie, Stamps - Autumn Leaves - Swirls, Ribbon - American Crafts, journaling block - Autumn Leaves, frame - Tim Holtz striped elements grungeboard, stickles, sandpaper, red paint pen, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding letters

Also be sure and check out the Girl Talk blog this week if you have a daughter. Even if you don't have a daughter I'm sure it will be benefitial! They're going to be talking about training your daughters to be competent homemakers. I'm excited about learning things to apply to my own life as well as practical ways to train my daughter to delight and flourish in the role God created her for. Today's post also really hit home with me. Make sure you check it out. What they talk about is what I pray for myself as well as for Kessa. I desire to be a support AND ornament of domestic life.
