Scrappy Time

Just realized I hadn't put some of these up so I thought I'd post some stuff I've done lately. Everything but the Christmas cards are using mostly items from this month's Addicted Scrappers kit. (it was full of Pink Paislee goodness!!!)

(this is my SIL's planner I altered for her.)

Beauty

I used an August PageMap for the starting point of this LO. I just adore this picture of Kessa. It was taken by my SIL while we were in Virgina last month. A lot of the products in this LO are from the September Addicted Scrappers kit.

I had to use the back of this piece of grungeboard because of the direction I wanted it facing, but it still worked out well! I covered it with pink stickles and then rubbed a PP rub on onto a transparency and popped it up over the flourish.

This stamp was also done on a transparency and then popped up. Its from Autumn Leaves Gypsy Style set. The swirls are from AL's Swirls V.2 set. After I stamped the heart I sprinkled SU dazzling diamonds over the wet ink. (on a side note I used AL new ink that's made especially for clear stamps and I LOVE that stuff!!!)
And finally, more stickles and AL stamps! The poem I tore out of an old book and then inked and altered the title from On Hearing a Symphony of Beethoven to the one below.
BG paper is Bazzill shimmer paper and all the other pp is PP.

Support & Ornament of Domestic Life

Here are a couple card I made using the CuteWorld boy kit from Addicted Scrappers. (The J is from last months kit Sunshine and Popsicles.)

This card I think I'll probably give to my nephew for his first birthday. I wanted the airplane rub-on to show up really well so I put it on a transparency and then cute it out and popped it up. I'm really happy with how this LO turned out. I hadn't scrapped in what seemed like forever and I was having major withdraws!!! I hand cut the shaped paper and then did some messy machine stitching around it. The photos were altered using PSE (I lowered the overall saturation and then increased the blue saturation to put the focus on the bear.)

credits: bg paper - MME Bohemia, shaped paper- Basic Grey Figgy Pudding, doodle paper- Love Elsie, Stamps - Autumn Leaves - Swirls, Ribbon - American Crafts, journaling block - Autumn Leaves, frame - Tim Holtz striped elements grungeboard, stickles, sandpaper, red paint pen, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding letters

Also be sure and check out the Girl Talk blog this week if you have a daughter. Even if you don't have a daughter I'm sure it will be benefitial! They're going to be talking about training your daughters to be competent homemakers. I'm excited about learning things to apply to my own life as well as practical ways to train my daughter to delight and flourish in the role God created her for. Today's post also really hit home with me. Make sure you check it out. What they talk about is what I pray for myself as well as for Kessa. I desire to be a support AND ornament of domestic life.

Scrappy Fun!

This is a LO I did for our Christmas in July crop at Addicted Scrapper. You can check out all the fun here. There is a great prize and you have until Monday to get your projects uploaded!

Another LO, this one is about "why I scrap." Hidden journaling reads:

I’m not gonna lie, I LOVE scrapping. I love the papers, I love the chipboard, I love the paint and the sandpaper. I love the feeling of finishing a page and being happy with the results. It’s just plain fun for me. But no matter how much I simply enjoy it, I wouldn’t do it without my family. I scrap because God has commanded me in Acts to “go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.” Scrapping allows me to do that in a creative way. In a way that they enjoy looking at now and will treasure all the more as they grow older. It allows me to tell even my great great great grandchildren of the wonders of the Lord! I praise God for making us creative beings and for allowing us to know this joy! Over all of my scrapbooking and creative work, lies the mantra and command, “whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

You can click on the image to see the list bigger and read it.

and a detail.

Crafty Post

Just popping in to share some crafty stuff! I'm feeling slightly under the weather so this is going to be short and sweet. Don't forget to send all your friends by to register for the blog candy! Make sure they leave a comment on this post.
This cute little guy is now up in my Etsy shop! Check him out here. He is also available for personalization!
These are the letters Kessa's had in her room forever after I altered them. I used the July Sunshine and Popsicles kit from Addicted Scrapper for most of it. Also note that I'll be getting a tutorial up in the near future for these.
And finally a VERY simply LO I did for a scraplift challenge over at Splitcoast. Ok, I'm off to feed the baby and get some sleep. Night ladies!

As Promised...

Well if you're from around here this lo needs no explanation...however if not I can just see some of you furrowing your brows wondering where the taco is! Here in Mt. Carmel we have a restaurant called Taco Tierra and it is almost more foundational to this town that football (ALMOST.) They have great food and are most famous for their drinks. Now, no one seems to know WHY their sodas are so great but I have heard a rumor that they put an addictive substance in it so you HAVE to keep coming back. lol. I'm pretty sure you're not officially a citizen of our little town unless you have at LEAST one Taco come-back cup. They're huge and its only 75 cents to have them filled up. Anyway...that's a Taco cup Kessa is carrying around in the photos. Everything on this page except for the bling is from the Addicted Scrappers Sunshine and Popsicles kit. I also did some doodling with paint pens and the bling is CTMH. It was just individual jewels and I shaped them into a heart around the Taco cup. Night all!

P.S. Taco even has a facebook group called Taco Tierra Addicts with close to 1000 members!!! Check it out here.

Look what I Won!!!!!

So I was playing around on the net yesterday and went to check out Tinkering Ink's blog. It was friday and apparently they always have a "Friday Freebie." This week it was a signed copy of this book...and guess what? I WON IT!!!!! Too cool. Thank you
Tinkering Ink and thank you random number generator!

Moving on, this weekend is Virtual Scrapbooking Night over at Splitcoast Stampers and one of the challenges was to make a page with a removable booklet for journaling it. This is my booklet. Each different color is another page and I'm going to use it to write down all those fun little "Kessa-isms" that I don't want to ever forget! The pp for the cover and the foam thicker are from the July Addicted Scrappers Sunshine and Popsicles kit.
And here's the page the booklet goes in! I am having so much fun using this kit!!! I'm loving the Cosmo Cricket papers and I'm having a BLAST fussy cutting them! lol. The everything but the cloud paper, ribbons and some of the letter stickers are from the A.S. kit. I also have to give credit to my DH who came up with the quote for the top of the page...even though I messed it up! lol. It was APPARENTLY supposed to be "Hookin' up words and phrases and clauses" Oh! I have an idea, leave me a comment and tell me what that's from. If I have more than 5 people leave comments I'll have a drawing for some goodies on...hmmm...Tuesday. Ok? Ok. (Kessa says that all the time and it totally cracks me up!)

Sunny Days

I got my first kit from Addicted Scrapper and it is FAB!!!! I love it!! I sat down and whipped out this page right after I got it! I used Jessica's sketch that she did for this weeks sketch challenge on the Totally Random blog. It also works for Jennipher's "Glitz it Up" challenge on T.R. The yellow letters are all covered in glitter. Anyway...this month's girl kit at Addicted Scrapper is called Sunshine and Popsicles and it is full of all this wonderful stuff!!!!

Finally a Crafty Post!

As promised I actually have some scrappy goodness to share today! I actually got this page done amazingly quickly for me. This is the current sketch challenge on Noel Mignon which you can see here. The sketch is by Virgina and you can check her out here. The majority of this lo are things from the Addicted Scrappers June Dino Mate kit which you can see here. Pretty sure there's still some left.
The title was semi-stolen from a book Tim is currently reading called Future Men by Douglas Wilson which you can check out here. I was just skimming through it and came across the paragraph that inspired this title and that I used for the journaling.

Journaling: "If our sons are to be prepared for the world God made, then their imaginations MUST be fed and nourished with tales about...Sam Gamgee carrying Frodo up the mountain and Trumpkin fighting for Aslan while still not believing in him...this type of story is required by Scripture . The Bible cannot be read rightly without creating a deep impulse to tell stories which carry scriptural truth about the kind of war we are in down through the ages."

I also want to share something I've been reading in Valley of Vision, but I'll post that later tonight (and hopefully a card from this sketch too. I've got it all in my head, just have to have time to get it to paper!)

Anyway, in celebration I'm going to give away some stuff! (who doesn't love blog candy?!?) So, all you have to do is leave me a comment and maybe link me up to your favorite line of scrap goodies right now and I'll draw a name on friday. So without further ado...here's the loot!

Argh! @ the internet

So, I know I haven't updated since Tuesday...sorry about that. It's been raining and storming and our internet has been hit or miss since tuesday afternoon I. Mostly miss though! ARGH!!! Everytime I sat down to update the net was off...again...ARGH! Anyway, I have a GREAT puritan prayer from Valley of Vision I'm going to share with you tomorrow. However, for today, I'll leave you with the last two challenges for the Design team contest at Addicted Scrappers.

This challenge was to scrap about your routine. I chose to just scrap about one aspect of my routine, my bible study/prayer time. I also used this page for the Dream Girls challenge which was to journal in 5 different spots and have doodling. The journaling blocks/circles read (from left to right): "These are pages from my journals. They are from 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007." "Today is June 12th, 2008 and I'm studying Acts and praying through Psalms." "Currently I have 26 prayer journals." "I started keeping journals in 1996." "Blessed Lord, let me climb up near to thee and live and long and plead and wrestle with thee, and pant for deliverance from the body of sin, for my heart is wandering and lifeless and my soul morns to think it should ever lose sight of its Beloved. - Valley of Vision"
credits: Addicted Scrappers June Dino-Mite kit felt frame, Love Elsie soft charms, Love Elsie tab sticker, unknown clear buttons, American Crafts clear journaling stickers, Your Memories by Design journaling circles, Tim Holtz grungeboard arrow, American Crafts glitter thickers, American Crafts letter stickers, paint pens, Rock Star bg paper

This was the last challenge for the DT call. We had to make 4 coordinating cards with at least two flowers and three brads or eyelets on every card. Almost all of the products on these cards are Love, Elsie. I also used yesterdays newspaper! ;)
