Aaaawwwwwww

Just wanted to let you guys all in on a little secret...my husband is the sweetest guy around!!!! (really, I'm not just saying that...) Case in point...I called him the other day when I was around and what do I hear? This song.

Yea, when I call him, his phone starts in at the chorus of this song..."You're the girl of my dreams.." and so...I fell for him ALL OVER AGAIN...just like I do EVERY day!!!!

(on a side note, this is a REALLY great album, if you've never heard it you should check it out. Dustin Kensrue is the lead singer for Thrice, but this solo album is amazing, very mellow and folkish.)

Scrappy Fun!

This is a LO I did for our Christmas in July crop at Addicted Scrapper. You can check out all the fun here. There is a great prize and you have until Monday to get your projects uploaded!

Another LO, this one is about "why I scrap." Hidden journaling reads:

I’m not gonna lie, I LOVE scrapping. I love the papers, I love the chipboard, I love the paint and the sandpaper. I love the feeling of finishing a page and being happy with the results. It’s just plain fun for me. But no matter how much I simply enjoy it, I wouldn’t do it without my family. I scrap because God has commanded me in Acts to “go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.” Scrapping allows me to do that in a creative way. In a way that they enjoy looking at now and will treasure all the more as they grow older. It allows me to tell even my great great great grandchildren of the wonders of the Lord! I praise God for making us creative beings and for allowing us to know this joy! Over all of my scrapbooking and creative work, lies the mantra and command, “whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

You can click on the image to see the list bigger and read it.

and a detail.

Godly Glutony

I'm currently reading "What Jesus Demands from the World" by John Piper and I LOVED this quote from Jonathan Edwards. (He was preaching from Song of Solomon 5:1- "Eat, friends, drink and be drunk with love!")

Christians ought "to be endeavoring by all possible ways to inflame their desires and to obtain more spiritual pleasures....Our hungerings and thirstings after God and Jesus Chrsit and after holiness can't be too great for the value of these things, for they are things of infinite value...[Therefore] endeavor to promote spiritual appetites by laying yourself in the way of allurement...There is no such thing as excess in our taking of this spiritual food. There is no such virtue as temperance in spiritual feasting."

Soo...I long to be an "obese Christian!"

Spring (?) Cleaning

Ok, so if this is Spring Cleaning I'm a little behind huh? Anyway, over the next few days I'm going to try and do a lot of organizing/purging in my scrapping room and house. I'm also planning on setting up a little scrapping spot for Kessa...wanna know why? I know you do! She had some stickers yesterday that she put on a scrap of pp, then today she asked if she could have a picture I had leftover from a DPS I had just finished so I gave it to her. Later I see her with her picture and PP and stickers...she was "scrapbooking!!!!!" It was just too darn cute. (Plus maybe it will keep her occupied and I'll get able to scrap some while she's awake too! lol)

On a side note I'm also hoping to find some time to renovate my blog...so beware...it might be a mess for a few days!

DPS

These pictures are only a few days old and they already hold so many memories. You were sick when these were taken (first time ever!) but you still had that beautiful charming smile ready for your grandma when she took you outside.
I have to crack up every time I see you wearing this shirt buddy! It makes me think of my days as a lifeguard…all those thousands of hours working at the city pool in the summer, and the YMCA, and teaching swim lessons, and even being the Aquatics Director. It reminds me of never being able to sweat without smelling like chlorine because I spent so much time in the water! (and it reminds your dad of my fantastic tan!) I see you in this shirt and I have to wonder if you’re going to be that “hot lifeguard” that all the girls go to the pool to flirt with. I pray that you have wisdom and discernment in that area and that you trust your father and I’s advice when it comes to your relationships with females.
One last thought…if you want to be a lifeguard…maybe you should at least wait until you can crawl, but if that’s what you really want…don’t let anyone, not even me, tell you that you can’t achieve your dreams! Lol 07.08

Products used: CC - Get Happy, Hello Sunshine; Chipboard/Grungeboard - Scenic Route (curved arrow, some stars), Basic Grey (frame and photo corner), Tim Holtz Striped Elements (long frame, Z, some stars, crown, rectangles) Paint Pens; SU eyelets, Crop-a-Dile; buttons from my stash; Letters - AC trademarks "Eddie", KI Alphabet Soup, Tim Holtz (Z) I used Times New Roman font and printed my journaling on a transparency; MM sanding block; Signo White Gel pen

Blog Candy Reveal

Sorry I didn't make it back when I said I would. I've got a lovely summer cold and Zeke got sick...for the first time ever! The doctor said he has a virus so there's nothing we can do but wait it out. Poor guy, he's got such a sweet disposition it makes it so much worse when he cries and is fussy because you know how bad he must feel! However, he's a little trooper and still smiling at people even in the midst of fussing.

Ok, enough of trivial details that I know you were all dying to hear and on to the good stuff! Denise...here's what I'll be mailing out to you on Monday. Congratulations!!!!

This cute little guy is now up in my Etsy shop! Check him out here. He is also available for personalization!
These are the letters Kessa's had in her room forever after I altered them. I used the July Sunshine and Popsicles kit from Addicted Scrapper for most of it. Also note that I'll be getting a tutorial up in the near future for these.
And finally a VERY simply LO I did for a scraplift challenge over at Splitcoast. Ok, I'm off to feed the baby and get some sleep. Night ladies!

Grunge

Ok, turns out I'm only going to be sharing one thing I was working on right now. The other one is done and even photographed, but I have to do some editing and stuff and I'm just too tired right now.

So...I shall leave you with this LO of Zekiel. To create the boarder around the bg paper I put strips of paper under it in the frame shape and then sanded over it. I was really happy with the result. The journaling is hidden under the left picture and it pulls out by the little tab (which didn't photograph well, but it says Punk Rock.) It reads: "Ok, I admit it. I want you to be a punk rocker. I love the music, I love the clothes, and you've already got the hair! So just know that as long as I dress you , you will be my little "grunge boy!" lol. Love mom 7.08"
Products used:
DCWV Rockstar pp, bazzil cs, Tim Holtz grungeboard striped elements, grungeboard dots alpha, Scenic Route chipboard stars, Love Elsie tab, signo white gel pen, cinnamon stickles, sand paper.

Blog Candy!!!

Nope, not yet, but keep checking in...I haven't forgotten about you all. Also check back later today, I'll have some fun things I've been working on for you.

Cards...

Just wanted to pop in and share these cards I made with the yummy Sunshine and Popsicles kit from Addicted Scrapper. You can see close ups of each card here.

Distractions....

So this is exactly what God has been dealing with me about lately. This post says it in pretty much exactly the words I would have used...just insert scrapping into some of those places and that's it. Join me in begging God to help us keep not just our time priorities right, but our heart and mind priorities too.

Friends...

So, I LOVE being a mommy. I really do. No matter how many times I have to say no, or how many poopie diapers I have to change or how many times I have to re-organize the cabinet (a day!) I LOVE being a mommy. Because when they're scared I'm the one they want. When they're tired or hurt mommy can make it all better and my heart just melts. Snuggles from a tired little toddler are just about the greatest thing in the world if you ask me.

Ok, on to less mushy topics. Some fun pics from yesterday. We had some friends over and they brought little "fireworks" (which thankfully weren't TOO loud, so Kessa was only minorly frightened! lol)Jess and Jack laughing at Erik and the sparklers.Did you know my cute little man can sit up!?!?!?Kessa's such a good mommy/big sister/friend. :DOur big display! (curtosy of the the Saltsgaver clan)All four of us! yea!!!! I think the last time a picture was taken of all four of us Zekiel was...on...about 48 hours old!

Randomness

What do you think? Is it a wonderful new style in scrapbooking? Think it will sweep the nation? Probably not...but I was impressed. Kessa made this page for Noel Mignon's kids challenge. The only things I did were the title and I did a little prompting on where she should put that long border on the side, but everything else she did. From picking out the paper, to deciding where everything should go. She was very much in love with those circle sticker as you can see. I thought it was pretty good for a 1 year old!!! lol.

And a before and after using Pioneer Woman's PSE actions. I'm honestly not sure which one I like better! lol. This is before:

This is after:Hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July!!!!!!!

Homemaking...

I've been thinking a lot lately about that little word and all that it entails and all that God has called me to be and do under that title. Sometimes I get caught up in the "after then's" and I'm guessing if you're a SAHM you do too. You know...After X happens THEN I can really start serving God. As if THIS time right now...all the diapers and Pooh Bear and nursing....aren't the ways He's called me to serve Him NOW. This article on the Girl Talk blog was very helpful to me the other day when it came to this particular problem.

You see...I tend to be a gal of extremes. Because I love scrapping and such I think I need to be doing it all the time...sometimes to the detriment of my family and the High Calling of Homemaking God has placed on my life. Praise Him for conviction and continual sanctification. He has been opening my eyes to my extremes and the ways my life and my family suffer because of them. Scrapping...as with all good gifts from above, falls under the heading of "all things in moderation." Why is that so hard? (leave me a comment if you've got any tips!)

And finally I'll leave you with a quote from Dorothy Patterson that was very enlightening and a good reminder for me today. (You can check out the rest of the article here.) “Homemaking—being a full-time wife and mother—is not a destructive drought of usefulness but an overflowing oasis of opportunity; it is not a dreary cell to contain one’s talents and skills but a brilliant catalyst to channel creativity and energies into meaningful work; it is not a rope for binding one's productivity in the marketplace, but reins for guiding one's posterity in the home; it is not oppressive restraint of intellectual prowess for the community, but a release of wise instruction to your own household; it is not the bitter assignment of inferiority to your person, but the bright assurance of of the ingenuity of God's plan for the complementarity of the sexes, especially as worked out in God's plan for marriage; it is neither limitation of gifts available nor stinginess in distributing the benefits of those gifts, but rather the multiplication of a mother's legacy to the generations to come and the generous bestowal of all God meant a mother to give to those He entrusted to her care."

And now that it is officially after midnight...HAPPY 4th of July!!!!!!!!!

As Promised...

Well if you're from around here this lo needs no explanation...however if not I can just see some of you furrowing your brows wondering where the taco is! Here in Mt. Carmel we have a restaurant called Taco Tierra and it is almost more foundational to this town that football (ALMOST.) They have great food and are most famous for their drinks. Now, no one seems to know WHY their sodas are so great but I have heard a rumor that they put an addictive substance in it so you HAVE to keep coming back. lol. I'm pretty sure you're not officially a citizen of our little town unless you have at LEAST one Taco come-back cup. They're huge and its only 75 cents to have them filled up. Anyway...that's a Taco cup Kessa is carrying around in the photos. Everything on this page except for the bling is from the Addicted Scrappers Sunshine and Popsicles kit. I also did some doodling with paint pens and the bling is CTMH. It was just individual jewels and I shaped them into a heart around the Taco cup. Night all!

P.S. Taco even has a facebook group called Taco Tierra Addicts with close to 1000 members!!! Check it out here.
