Made for Mermaids has a super cute new pattern out called the Blair top.  Now, I did the most simple version.  Tunic length.  Plain hem.  Nothing fancy.  It's super cute and I did it in sweatshirt fleece so it's extra warm and cozy and my girls love it but it really doesn't do this pattern justice.

(my yummy sweatshirt fleece is from Mel at Purpleseamstress Fabric.)

(Grace wanted a picture with Zane too.  Who is wearing some flannel lined Captain Comfy Jeans from Patterns for Pirates.)

Ok, back to the Blair top.  It's a loose fitting, v-neck, raglan top with 3 different sleeve lengths and a TON of hem options.  There is the plain jane tunic length with nothing fancy like I did, but there is also a Rainbow hem, a high low hem, a curved hem, and options for lace edging, single ruffle, or double ruffle on all those hems as well!

Because of the fit you can use a WIDE variety of knits for the bodice, from a heavier one (like my sweatshirt fleece) to something more light and flowy.  The ruffles look amazing in light wovens with good drape (think lining fabric, chiffon, lace, etc.)

And the V-neck?  Don't be scared!  The directions are super simple and take you through it step by step.  All of mine looked great (in my humble opinion.  lol!)

So, the girls Blair (from 1/2 all the way to a 14) is on sale right now for just $7!!!  (If you need one for you, the Ladies Blair is also on sale for $7 currently, OR you can buy the bundle and get the girls and ladies both for only $10!!!)

(I should also note that the length on Grace's top is off a little, it was lengthened during testing.)

So, go forth, buy, and sew!!!!  :)

Mya Love (and a great bundle sale!)

I had the pleasure of testing the new Mya pattern from Made for Mermaids last week and to say we love it might be an understatement.

The girls' Mya has dress, tunic (with a curved hem), and top length options, as well as long, 3/4th, and short sleeves, several ruffle options (I didn't do any ruffles as I was sewing for my almost 10 year old...and also because I'm not a huge fan of ruffles.  lol)

and a cowl option too as you can see!

I upcycled this dress from an old maxi dress I had in my stash which already had the cool colorblocking in it.  Kessa and I both love this dress!

(I have no clue what she's doing in this picture...trying to call down more snow perhaps?  Control the skies somehow?  Sometimes I just don't ask.  :p lol)
This is the top version and I layered the long and short sleeves together.  The long sleeves are upcycled from a thermal goodwill top.  Gotta love upcycling!

This is a seriously fast and easy sew.  I'll be making both girls a lot more.  AND it's crazy easy to mash sizes.  I made Kessa a 6 with the 7 length and for Grace I have a 4 with a 6 length cut out.

I made the graphic with my Silhouette software and then cut it from Heat Transfer Vinyl and ironed it on.  I'm slightly addicted to the stuff!  <3 p="">

I know these photos are great but she looks so darn cute in them I had to include them!  lol

And last, but certainly not least is the tunic version with the cute curved hem!

That hem!  *swoon*  I love it.  (The leggings were a $3 pair of Juniors from Walmart that I cut down to fit her.  She freaked when she saw them)

More cute leggings and hem because I can!  :p

I made a couple different graphic options for this one and let Kessa pick and of course she went for the "Cupcakes for breakfast" one.  I mean really, wouldn't you?!?!  lol

(Also cut from HTV with my silhouette.)

So, if you're sold here's the low down on the sale.  Right now (until 1/22 at midnight CST) you can get the Mya pattern on sale for $7 (it's regularly $9) AND if you use the code myasale  you get a super cute headband pattern (normally $3) for free.  I haven't gotten one of those made yet though so no pictures of it from me.

And here's the really good deal... There's also a mama version of the mya (!!!) and if you buy the bundle you get BOTH patterns (and the headband!) for just $10!!!!  That's a great deal.

A Few of My Favorite Things

I just wanted to pop in and do a post with a few of my favorite pattern test pictures of Kessa.  I'm thinking this might be a fun time of year to do a post like this for each of the kids and we'll start off with K since she's the oldest!

Above are the Just a Jersey shirts I made for all the kiddos.  (Pattern by Blank Slate Patterns)
Above: The Soda Pop Polo from Candy Castle Designs (this one has soo many options and it's a great unisex pattern!)

Girl and doll Avonlae dresses from Cole's Corner and Creations (she gets soooo many compliments every time she wears this one!)

This one has me ready for summer!  The Capsule skirt from EYMM with matching doll capsule skirt!

A fun Asymmetric top from EYMM

A High Low version of the California dress from EYMM

An upcycled hack of the Calla Lily Skirt from EYMM

And last but not least, the Mayfair dress from my beloved Terra's Treasures!

Talor Tank

Made for Mermaids has just released a totally amazing tank in the perfect time for summer.  This shirt is a seriously fast sew.  We're talking like 20 minutes start to finish (once my pattern was put together...and even that didn't take long!)

The Talor Tank is the girls version of the Free Spirit tank from designer Patterns for Pirates (the designers behind Made for Mermaids and Patterns for Pirates are sisters.)  and they're offering a mommy/daughter bundle this weekend only!

The Talor Tank comes in sizes 1/2 all the way up to size 14 and has top, tunic, and dress lengths, as well as a full back or racerback option, AND curved, highlow, or straight hemlines and several options for adding a bow to the racerback!  It's packed full of options.  I've already made Kessa two and she loves them.  I see a lot more in our future!

(promise my hemline isn't that wonky, it was just windy!  lol)

Fall Style

What's that?  It's August and I have MORE fall sewing done?  No way!

I got lucky and got to test my first two patterns by Made for Mermaids last week and they're a hit!  I really love how they're both just solid staples for fall/winter.

The Rose Ruffle shirt was released last week and is fantastic for layering or as a stand alone.  It comes in sizes 1/2 up to 14 and can be made with mid or full length sleeves.  It has a slimmer fit through the torso that makes it especially ideal for layering.  (The neck band has been lengthened to take care of the puckering that you see in my teal and gray striped top)

It also pairs PERFECTLY with the Hailey Ruffle pants that will be released this coming Tuesday!  Now let me tell you about these pants...these pants are SOOO cute.  AND they have a yoga waistband so your daughter will think they're super comfy.  AND they have a waist ruffle that almost looks like a ruffled undershirt.  AND they can be made in knit or woven for all pieces except the yoga waistband!

On this pair I used a woven for the pants and bottom ruffles and a cotton lycra knit for the waistband and waist ruffle.

Saying "hi!" to Si.  They have nice full booty coverage too.  No plumbers crack here!  ;)

For this 2nd set I made I upcycled a shirt and used stretch lace for the sleeves on the top.

The pants and bottom ruffles are knit, as well as the waistband, and the waist ruffle is an awesome Wonder Woman woven fabric.  I love patterns that let me mix the fun woven fabrics I find in with my beloved (and comfy!) knits!

Also, stretch lace is becoming a bit of an obsession for me.  I love it.  I'm going to be sad when it's too cold to use it and I feel I might start layering it over things at that point.  It's just so fun!  lol

See?!?!  HOW CUTE IS THAT LITTLE RUFFLE?!?!?!  Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!  Ok, so...now that you're wishing away Monday so that you can buy this awesome pattern...I'm going to bed.  Night night!
