Spirit Jacket for Wellie Wishers!

If you've been around for a (LONG) time you might remember the Spirit Jacket I tested for Cole's Corner a few years ago.  I made Zeke a really cute jacket that he never wore (also, click that link up there to see the jacket.  How little does Zeke look?!?!) and I didn't think about it again for a couple years.

Now I'm on the prowl for all things Wellie Wisher sized since Kessa got one for her birthday so I was thrilled when Nicole said she was going to make the Spirit Jacket in that size.

How cute does Camille look in her jacket?!?!  It's a raglan style and can be made with sooo many different fabrics!  (I actually misplaced that bottom snap.  That was my bad, not the pattern.)

This jacket is also the perfect canvas for adding fun embellishments to!  I just slapped initials on Kessa and Camille's with some Under Wonder and then did a quick stitch around them.

The doll pattern is on sale through Sunday for just $3!

and if you don't already have the kid's pattern (it's great for girls AND boys!!) be sure and grab it too.

The kids pattern even has pockets and it's a super easy, beginner friendly pattern!

see?  Adorable!!!

and if you don't have any bottoms check out these leggings!  Lots of lengths and a SUPER fast sew.

Perfect Layering Tee

Have you seen the little adorable new Wellie Wisher Dolls from American Girl?  Kessa got one from my husband's family for her birthday and her first request was for me to make the doll more clothes.  When Nicole said she was making some patterns the Wellie Wishers I was all over it!  The Perfect Layering tee for girls and dolls was first up on the list.  It comes in tank, short, 3/4, and long sleeves, has regular and tunic lengths with options for hems or bands and it looks great!

This shirt is tight fitting and perfect for laying under things...or wearing alone if that floats your boat!  The black one is the tunic length with 3/4 length sleeves (and I added some fun heat transfer of course!)

There are also two different options for finishing the neck.  You can do a traditional neck band (as I did on the black tunic) or you can do a binding like I did on the aztec print shirt.

This is the hemmed length with short sleeves.  It's very easy to mash sizes too!  Since it's such a tight fitting shirt I made sure to take new measurements of Kessa and make the shirt accordingly.  I did a 7 chest graded out to an 8 hips and an 8 length (for my 10 year old.  :p )

and how about some bottoms???  Cole's Corner also released a basic bottom pattern for Wellie Wishers that included pant, capri, short, and shorty short lengths.  They're SUUUUPer fast to make too.  I cut and sewed 4 pairs (one in each length) in probably 30 minutes the other day.

So, what are you waiting for???  Go buy them!  :p  I'm ready to make the girls more of these in waffle knit to wear under their t-shirts this winter.

A Few of My Favorite Things

I just wanted to pop in and do a post with a few of my favorite pattern test pictures of Kessa.  I'm thinking this might be a fun time of year to do a post like this for each of the kids and we'll start off with K since she's the oldest!

Above are the Just a Jersey shirts I made for all the kiddos.  (Pattern by Blank Slate Patterns)
Above: The Soda Pop Polo from Candy Castle Designs (this one has soo many options and it's a great unisex pattern!)

This one has me ready for summer!  The Capsule skirt from EYMM with matching doll capsule skirt!

Avonlea Dress

I was so thrilled to be able to test Cole's Creations new Avonlea dress and matching dolly dress last week!  Now, if you're like me, the first you'll want to know is why should I buy this pattern, right?  I mean, there are multiple out there with knit bodices and woven skirts already right?  Right.

Well Cole's Creations Avonlea dress comes in sizes 1/2 - size 14 so that's a big selling point!  The biggest selling point for me though would be that it has a lot more options than most of the other dresses.  Because there were so many options not all of them are going to look different from the other patterns.  I did the basic long sleeve version with a ruched sash and ruffled skirt.  There are also options for basic short sleeves, puffed sleeves, puffed sleeves layered over long sleeves and the skirt can be done with or without the ruffle.  The pattern is designed to be much shorter but I made the skirt a size longer and added the ruffle.  Kessa loved this length and was very excited about the "twirl factor!"

The patterns are on sale through tomorrow (Thursday 2/26)!  The girl dress is just $6 and the doll dress is only $2!!

(how 'bout them zebras?!?!  In case you haven't figured it out yet Kessa has a thing for zebras.  She LOVES this dress.)

I'm getting a lot better at tying those sash bows too!  lol.  I'm pretty sure Kessa would wear these every day if I made her enough.

I'm also itching to start making the girls' Easter dresses with this pattern.  It's SOOO cute with special occasion fabric!

So what are you waiting for?!?!  Go grab the pattern while it's still on sale and whip up some matching dresses for your girly and her daughter so you can get a smile like this from her too!!

We've Got Spirit Yes We Do!

Last week was crazy busy for me.  Sunday my oldest turned 8, Wednesday my 3rd turned 5, Thursday - Saturday the whole family went to on a mini-vacation, Saturday was my husband and I's 11th anniversary and I had several pattern tests and custom orders to finish.  With all that on my plate I almost bowed out of testing Cole's Creations new Spirit Jacket.

I'm SOOO glad I didn't!!!  This jacket is amazing!  It's so trendy and stylish right now and it's FAST.  I mean, like I'm pretty confident I'll be able to make them start to finish in less than an hour (including cutting!) at this point.  I have plans to do color-coded ones for all my kids as soon I can get the backs embroidered!

(please tell me I'm not the only one with kids that do this all day every day?!?!  lol)  Anyway, the pattern is totally unisex, can be made with or without pockets (and the way the pockets are put in is really cool!) and comes in sizes 1/2 - 16!!!  You can use a variety of fabrics, including (but not limited to) flannel backed satin, faux leather, fleece, sweatshirt fleece, pointe and much more!  I used some gray sweatshirt scraps for the body of Zeke's jacket and I cut up one of my husband's OOOOOLLLLDDDD sweatshirts for the sleeves.  The bands are actually cotton lycra (ribbing is recommended, but the lycra worked ok.  I just HAD to have stripes  lol)

Oh, and if you're making one for a girl (or a boy with a doll), just a little heads up, Cole's Creations has matching 15" and 18" doll patterns for ALL their patterns.  You can find the matching Dolly Spirit Jacket here.
